Complimentary yoga on the wharf is back at Brisbane’s premier shopping and dining precinct – Portside Wharf – due to popular demand, with the first class of 2014 kicking off on Sunday February 2.
The hour-long free sessions are set to take place fortnightly at 8am on the wharf with a qualified yoga instructor from Jetts Fitness Hamilton, focusing on relaxing the mind, strengthening the body, increasing flexibility and invigorating the soul.
The classes ran throughout winter in 2013 and Jetts Fitness Hamilton club manager Dave Kettle said he was surprised by the loyal following the classes gained during the cooler months.
“We developed a large following last year and classes continued to fill rain, hail or shine,” he said.
“We are excited to continue our complimentary yoga on the Wharf in 2014 and we look forward to welcoming back the yoga faithfuls from last season and seeing some new faces join us for some stretching and strengthening sessions out in the fresh air.”
Mr Kettle said outdoor yoga was an enriching experience and a great way to improve your health, with the added benefit of exercising with the unbeatable view of the Brisbane River.
“Yoga on the Wharf is a lovely way to exercise in the open-air in an unintimidating environment,” he said.
“These classes are accessible for everyone and are designed to cater for a wide range of ages and fitness levels.
“The sessions have been well received by locals living in the luxury residential apartments, along with those who travel to the riverside precinct to kick start their Sunday with an revitalising class.
“It’s a very social atmosphere and many stay around after class to have a coffee at one of Portside’s cafes, brunch at a popular waterfront restaurant or do a sneaky post workout shop at one of the boutique fashion stores.”
Mr Kettle says Portside Wharf puts a focus on health and wellbeing and these free yoga sessions are a great example of what the precinct is doing to promote the benefits of keeping fit.
The mixed-use development along the river at Hamilton is now home to over 30 boutique retailers including Jetts Fitness Hamilton and Studio Pilates International, both of which have a growing customer base and are doing an incredible job of spreading the messages of health and fitness.
