Ladies can put away their straightening irons because natural waves are back, according to Fadi Haddad, owner of Portside Wharf’s latest hair salon, Fadi’s Hair.
The renowned hair stylist – who recently relocated to the popular riverside shopping, dining and lifestyle precinct from James Street in the Valley -says throw away the hair straighteners and pull out the curling tongs because this season is all about movement.
The hair trends are following the fashions, which can be seen in the windows of the boutique fashion stores across the precinct, with a strong focus on texture, using shiny materials, feathered fabrications and statement lace or for the more relaxed look, loose fitting cropped pants.
“This season’s hair, like the clothes, is about elegance and movement and the style cuts are what relates to this season by leaving length in the front for soft movement in the hair,” he said.
“It’s about beautiful styling – wearing soft curls or sleek hair with a defined lower part and also braiding with loose weaving of the hair to create texture and softness.”
Fadi also said blonde is back.
“Balayage is on its way out – it’s more about strong pieces of blonder hair,” he said.
“The blondes of this season are not fake, Barbie blondes, they are what I call ‘edible blondes’ like crème caramel, honeycomb and champagne.
“It’s also about mixing these colours and integrating different tones to create a depth of colour.”
He said that while the soft curls are in, the Brisbane fashion scene will be seeing a move towards elegant yet bold, shorter styles this year.
“The ‘long bob’ and ‘asymmetric bob’ haircuts are surely the hottest style for 2014 and for those looking for something super striking, the pixie look is in this autumn,” he said.
“If you’ve been wondering what to do next with your locks and been searching for inspiration, come in and see me and together we’ll design the perfect look for you.”
Since opening his doors, Fadi Haddad has developed a loyal following, and has become extremely popular with the style conscious residents living in the luxury residential apartments.
