Brisbane’s newest festival – Containerval – is set to activate the Northshore Hamilton precinct with what will become an annual celebration of emerging home grown talent.
Supported by the premier riverside shopping and dining precinct, Portside Wharf, Containerval runs from November 2 to 17 and is set to attract more than 5,000 people each weekend.
Just a short walk from the sophisticated retail and dining hotspot – Portside Wharf, the festival will see shipping containers transformed into a vibrant mix of pop-up retail shops, art studios and performance spaces, providing a platform for new and growing local businesses to showcase their creativity.
Portside Wharf Project Director Lee Butterworth said the festival was a creative and engaging way to activate the Northshore Hamilton precinct.
“It is fantastic to see such an innovative concept, with international appeal, come to life at Hamilton,” he said.
“The festival is fostering an array of local talent from musicians and performers to designers and aspiring restaurateurs, and giving them the opportunity to showcase their creations in an interactive environment, which is sure to have a wide appeal.
“Portside Wharf is delighted to get behind an event that supports local talent and contributes to the Brisbane community.”
Mr Butterworth said the festival would benefit the entire precinct.
“The proximity of the festival site to Portside Wharf, means festival goers will have a vast selection of dining, shopping and entertainment options all within walking distance,” he said.
“Portside Wharf now boasts a mix of international cuisine with popular dining choices including The Burrito Bar, Ginga, Sono, Belvedere Bar & Grill, Max Brenner, Gusto Da Gianni, Byblos, Cruisers Cafe and Restaurant Manx.
“For those in search of quality coffee, one of the precinct’s newest additions, Deer Sir is serving up steaming cups of AllPress Espresso as well as their own cold press iced-coffee, brewed on-premise.”
Portside Wharf is home to more than 30 boutique retailers including Dendy Cinema, IGA supermarket, Jetts Fitness, Studio Pilates International, Urbbana Men’s Style Studio and Ella Bache.
With construction of the fifth residential stage of luxury apartments, Pinnacle at Portside Wharf, set to commence later this year, and Flare, Infinity, Loft and the most recent stage, Promenade all complete, Portside Wharf has established itself as the beating heart of the greater Northshore Hamilton development.
