Belvedere Bar and Grill has appointed a new head chef to run the kitchen at popular the riverside dining establishment located at one of Brisbane’s best boutique retail and dining precincts, Portside Wharf.

The new chef will add a touch of European flavour menu to Belvedere, one of Portside’s favourite restaurants renowned for its fine waterfront dining along the Brisbane River in Hamilton.

Situated on the wharf at the sophisticated residential and retail community, Belvedere combines stylish dining with casual eating, which is a concept very familiar to accomplished chef Anthony Gordon.

Anthony has worked with the likes of Heston Blumenthal and has perfected the art of cooking in Michelin star awarded restaurants across the globe.

“I have had the privilege of working in some of the most famed restaurants in the United Kingdom, including Midsummer House in Cambridge, which is the only two Star Michelin Restaurant in East Anglia,” he said.

“I spent some time working at Dinner By Heston Blumenthal last year (2012), and did a stint at Textures Restaurant and Champagne Bar – both of which have been awarded one Michelin Star.

“I also worked as a sous chef at Daphne’s, a restaurant in South Kensington – a modern Italian eatery, known for its effortless charm and fresh pasta which is cooked daily.”

Over the years he has also been behind the success of a number of popular Brisbane restaurants including Vino’s Restaurant and Bar, Lure Restaurant at Coro Hotel and Brisbane Polo Club.

Anthony says the experience he has gained working in establishments of such a high calibre helped him to refine his skills and intensified his passion for food.

“I am a firm believer that the customer comes first, which is what attracted me to Belvedere – achieving customer satisfaction with the food I offer makes me feel good,” he said.

“Belvedere’s approach to dining stands out and I am excited to be part of a team dedicated to creating an experience for the customer through fine food and superior service.”

Anthony says he intends to add his own touch to the menu at Belvedere while maintaining the diversity and flexibility that owners Cosimo Carvignese and Gianni Greghini have executed so well.

“Cosimo and Gianni have captured the perfect mix of style and comfort and created an environment conducive to an extravagant sit-down dinner, a corporate function or a casual drink and plate of nibbles on the huge outdoor timber deck,” he said.

“My cooking style is mostly Mediterranean and my goal is to bring a fresh, seasonal approach, using both modernised and traditional techniques, encompassing the bistro style, as well as my own stamp on daily specials.”

The new menu includes winter favourites like braised beef cheeks and slow cooked lamb shoulder.

Guests can also enjoy the popular two-course lunch special with a glass of house sparking, white or red wine for just $39.00 from Monday to Friday.

Belvedere is open for lunch and dinner seven days a week. For more details phone 07 3630 0411 or www.belvederebarngrill.com.au
