Iconic Portside Wharf establishment Restaurant Manx has had an overhaul, with a new manager and new head chef now at the helm.

New manager, Richard Ludanyi, has spent the past few months working with head chef, Terry Uhlmann, to remake the riverside dining venue in Hamilton, Brisbane and return Manx to its former glory.

Mr Ludanyi, who worked in hospitality around the world before managing Sydney restaurants Jaspers in Hunters Hill and Yoshii N1 – both boasting two Hats – moved to Queensland in 2010 to manage Gold Coast French restaurant Bistro Blanc and Peppers Ruffles Lodge Resort.

He said it was excited to see Manx turned around.

“The improvements have been noticed and applauded by our regular customers who have remained loyal through the hard times,” he said.

“We’d like to thank those loyal customers and welcome back everyone to the new Restaurant Manx to try our new menu.”

Head chef Terry Uhlmann has more than 22 years experience in the industry, honing his skills in many Brisbane establishments including The Filling Station Restaurant in the Myer Centre, The Soup Kitchen in West End (now known as Mondo Organics) and the Grape Wine & Food Bar in Fortitude Valley before a 10 year stint with Wine & Dine ‘m Catering.

Mr Uhlmann said he could see the huge potential in Restaurant Manx, part of one of Brisbane’s most popular fine dining precincts, destinations for fashion stores and luxury apartments, and wanted to be part of the makeover.

“Although we are a restaurant, the brunch menu is very much a café style menu with lighter yet satisfying meals that can be produced quickly,” he said.

“This menu is designed to give customers flexibility with their dining, offering options such as ‘add-ons’ so they can customise their meals.

“The dinner menu is modern Australian formal dining complemented by the ambience created by candles, full table settings and the first class service of our floor staff.  This sets the mood for an intimate dining experience for both couples and groups.

“We also have a small tapas menu designed for the bar area available from 3:00pm Tuesday through Saturday, giving guests something quick and simple to accompany drinks. It also allows people to have something fast and appetizing before attending the movies at Dendy Portside Cinema upstairs.”

Restaurant Manx is open from 11am – late Tuesday and Wednesday, 7.30am – late Thursday, Friday and Saturday and from 7.30am – 3pm Sunday. For bookings please phone 07 3216 4999.
