‘A touch of the Mediterranean with a twist of the Middle East’ best describes the new menu at Cruisers Cafe Bar & Grill.

Recently appointed Mediterranean chef, Louisa Kleopa has introduced tempting daily specials, new menu items and desserts to die for, since taking the helm of the popular cafe at Brisbane’s premier riverside dining precinct.

Hailing from Melbourne of Greek-Cypriot heritage, Louisa’s unique cooking style is a result of this mix of food and cultures as she merges traditional Mediterranean and Middle Eastern recipes to create a fusion of distinctive flavours.

“I always make an effort to create something interesting, so I spend a lot of time designing dishes and flavour combinations that are not often seen in traditional Mediterranean cuisine,” she said.

“I take great pride in my work and am very particular about what I serve – if I won’t eat it, I won’t serve it.”

Louisa said she loves the freedom she has been given by owners Michael and Diana Borowicz, to reinvent the menu.

“Cruisers has a long list of loyal customers who frequent the cafe, including residents living in the luxury apartments who come in for breakfast, lunch or dinner weekly, so the menu is being transformed delicately, with these customers and their tastes in mind,” she said.

“There will be more pastas and risottos added to the menu, but we will still have a focus on the char grill and are also keeping favourites like crackling pork belly served with apple ginger toffee.”

Louisa explained that while there are lots of fine dining restaurants in Brisbane, and plenty popular cafes around town, she is relishing the unique lifestyle that the precinct offers.

“It is such an active precinct, full of boutique shopping, fine dining, relaxed waterfront dining and stunning residential apartments,” she said.

“It’s important that we cater for those that drop into the precinct for a haircut and a quick breakfast, those looking for a relaxed meal on a Friday night before catching a movie at Dendy Cinemas, along with those looking to catch up over coffee and cake with a friend.”
